Break the Fake is a digital literacy platform with the aim of letting people verify factual information from the internet. They also have specific educational resources for parents and teachers. The project was created prior to COVID-19 but is particularly impactful given the array of constantly-changing information related to COVID-19.

This is an effort to eradicate the spread of misinformation in Kenya. Drawing on SHOFCO's extensive network of community members and leaders, the initiative promotes healthy behaviors while debunking common erroneous beliefs before they can spread. This is done by conducting door-to-door visits from volunteers and community health workers, along with SMS messages distributed to over 350,000 contacts.

This is a technology tool enabling users of news websites and open/closed social networks to request fact-checks directly from their browser or mobile app. Logically's fact-checking service draws on the expertise of in-house journalists, analysts, and data scientists, along with advanced AI algorithms.

The Commission’s “Pandemic Annex” collects observations from the pandemic as they relate to the security of cyberspace, in terms of both the unique cybersecurity challenges it creates and what it can teach the United States about how to prepare for a major cyber disruption (ie "infodemics" and the spread of misinformation). It also offers a few new recommendations that were created in light of gaps identified as a result of the pandemic. The series of white papers and pandemic learnings will continue, broadening the scope of cyber security, protecting our data, and stopping the spread of misinformation.
